My ear infection that I take amoxicillian for still hurts. How can I relieves its itchy pain?

Ear infection. If not better after 72 hrs on the meds, then get re evaluated to see if you need something stronger. Advil/Motrin can help with the pain every 6 hrs as needed.

Diagnosed with an ear infection: prescribed amoxicillin, took it. Didn't work after a week. Prescribed a z pack, took it. A week later it still hurts?

Otitis media. Infections can be caused by viruses and bacteria. Given your poor response to the antibiotics several things could have occurred. You may well have killed the bacteria causing the inner ear event...but the inflammation from the infection takes longer to resolve. Its also very possible that this was a viral infection..therefore no antibiotics will work. Read more...

Diagnosed with Acute otitis media with no perforation of tympanic membrane week ago. Done with amoxicillin. Ear still feels full and itchy. Normal?

Not uncommon. The accumulation of middle ear fluid and debris is part of the ear infection process. It can sometimes persist for a few weeks after all the germs are dead.During that period your Eustachian tube function should eventually return and allow air back up into the space so you will hear/feel normal. I have a ear infection I have some amoxicillin from 09 is it ok to take?

What kind. There are a number of issues that can produce ear pain that require no abx, including tooth issues, fluid, neuritis, etc. You can certainly assume you have a middle ear infection and take 6+ yr old, out of date meds.It is unlikely to injure you,But the strength of the med is likely poor, and if you really need it,no problem. These sometimes self heal (unless its a different problem). Read more...

How often and how long should I take amoxil (amoxicillin) tablets for an ear infection?

Discuss with PCP. If you're asking it likely means you have likely self diagnosed & are using some left over med from another illness or other source. This is not a good idea. You could be right, or wrong.Your problem may not require antibiotics & clear on it's own. Timing & duration of any treatment is best assessed by the professional who confirms the diagnosis & need for treatment. Read more...

My 13 y/o son has an ear infection, its been 4 days now. I have amoxicillin 500 mg, how many times a day should he take it?

Costly decision. You need to take him to a doctor. I imagine that your medicine is from another event. I do understand that the cost of a visit is often an issue, but if you can, do have your son seen. Ask if that med at that dose will be good so you won't waste it. Many doctors are becoming used to this economy and will understand. They may even give you the med. If i've misread the $ issue, please forgive me. Read more...
Prescription. You really should be very careful about prescription medications that weren't prescribed specifically for your son your son should really be evaluated and prescribed a medication specifically for him. Particularly for children, medicines are prescribed by weight. It also may not be the most appropriate drug for his condition. He really should be evaluated and a prescription given to him. None. Unless he is seen by a doctor and the diagnosis confirmed, you place the kid at risk. The dose, frequency and duration are case specific. Does his pain come from a middle ear infection,a cholestatoma that is destroying the middle ear,or a dental problem with phantom ear pain? Read more...

How long does it take for an ear infection to go away in a 1 year old...I have been given her amoxicillin for 6 days now?

Many issues. If the abx is effective the middle ear pus should be sterilized within 3-4 days. Fever should be down also. The fluid that is trapped with the infection may persist for 4-6 weeks. Fever persisting > 3 d should prompt a call to the treating physician. All 1yo should have a followup visit after 3-4 wks to monitor the progress of treatment. Recurrence is common in some infants. Took amoxicillin for a an ear infection had to take 3 times a day for a week now I ended the course I suffer with bad he's a aches why is this?

He's a aches??? Headaches??? This would be unexpected from a course of amoxicillin, but it is common to have a sinus infection along with an ear infection, but would expect persistent sinus congestion. If you have been tense, clenching teeth, the jaw joint in front of ear gets inflamed and causes ear pain and headaches. Some people with migraine may react to meds unexpectantly. If persist, see your doctor. Read more...
