In brief: Yes indeed...

While it does not abide by the same diagnostic tools as western medicine, acupuncture does recognize and acknowledge that depression and anxiety exist and are a disruption of sort of the internal energy system. Acupuncture aims to stimulate the body's flow of energy and functionality, and targets specific symptoms of concern.
You may ask your local acupuncturist or check out www.Acufinder.Com.

In brief: See below

I know one western trained psychiatrist who does not use any psychotropic medications - he uses acupuncture instead.
Acupuncture can be very beneficial for depression and anxiety -these are very straight forward protocols that most acupuncturists would know.

In brief: There are but

Google for your local acupuncturists.
There are a few in houston. No one specializes in depression & anxiety due to the small clientele as one can imagine. Studies have been inconclusive due to small sample size. Depression generally gets better even with the anticipation of help and supportive psychotherapy.
