In brief: Nasal saline drops
Babies ages 2-12 months can easily catch colds from other people.
If there is just a runny nose, without much fussiness, without any high fever, without other worrisome symptoms, then parents can leave the nose alone. If the mucous is blocking the nose somewhat, try a few drops of saline, followed by gentle suctioning with a suction bulb. A doctor should examine younger or more symptomatic babies.

In brief: No medicine
There are no medicines for infants for congestion.
You can use salt water nose drops and suction the nose from time to time. Babies are often noisy seemingly congested but only suction when they are having difficulty eating or sleeping because of their congestion. Be sure there is no fever. If there is see your doctor.

In brief: Nasal wash
At 7 weeks the primary cause of congestion is the environment.
House dust, fragrance, perfumes, detergent or cleaning products all leave scents that may not bother you but irritate a babies nose. A good nasal clean out with saline can remove much of this irritant load, but removing the offending irritants from babies life helps more in the long run.Air particle filters can also help.
