Sometimes.. You will not usually gain weight from a hysterectomy. If you have your ovaries removed you will be post menopausal and that can sometimes cause weight gain. Hope this helps.
Unrelated. A hysterectomy removes the uterus (womb), which should not have any effect on appetite or metabolism. If ovaries were also removed in a pre-menopausal woman (salpingo-oopharectomy), many hormonal changes can affect appetite and metabolism. Talk to your surgeon to understand exactly what was & wasn't removed, and what long-term effects to expect, and how best to deal with them.
