In brief: Watch for sedation

in baby & withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking it.
See http://www.drugs.com/breastfeeding/alprazolam.html. Talk to your psychiatrist about safer meds & see a psychologist for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Genetic loading + ^'ed fetal cortisol levels due to chronic antenatal anxiety warrant asking your pediatrician for a little extra monitoring of cognitive, emotional & behavioral development.

In brief: Breast feeding

is not recommended when taking Xanax (alprazolam) as it may potentially affect the infant and there are other drugs for panic disorder that are safer with breast feeding.
