Can I safely eat first fruits or leaves from plants I bought that were sprayed before I planted them?

In brief: Yes
If you eat such fruits, etc.
then wash them first to be sure no residue from the spray is on the surface. Almost all sprays are designed to stay on the surface and are not absorbed into the substance of the plant.

With any fruit or vegetables you buy, soak them in water with a couple of drops of Dawn dish liquid for 15 min. Then wash thoroughly. Dawn is excellent at removing substances on the fruits or vegetables!
