Macular pucker.with distortion. Close-up vision great, distance vision not as good. Could macular pucker impair distance vision only and not close up?

In brief: Not likely

Macular pucker affects the retina which detects images at any distance.
The lens and cornea focus images at various distances onto the retina. So a problem at only one distance usually is a problem other than the retina. However, some people may only notice distortion from a macular pucker at a particular distance. A review of your records/images would help clarify.
