Does emergency contraceptive pill works after surgical abortion if taken 20 days after abortion?

No. The emergency contraceptive only works if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. You should not need it if you had a surgical abortion unless you have conceived again in which case it will work if taken within 72 hours but you really need to start a much more reliable method of contraception. Sex should not be an emergency every time.

I had abortion and it's been 7 days. Can I still take an Emergency Contraceptive pill after having an unprotected sex? I am totally confused please

Sounds confusing. A woman willingly having unprotected sex 7 days after losing her baby fetus via an abortion sounds confused. She can check with her Dr. about how long to wait after an abortion before having sex. Asking about EC pills suggests she doesn't want to get pregnant, but then why have sex so soon after aborting, and why have unprotected sex? The safest thing may be to stop sex, until the Dr. says ok. Read more...

I took emergency contraceptive pill nearly 15 days ago and now I am getting my periods at the same time I am lactating. What may be the cause?

Plan B effect. Anyone having intercourse without birth control or condoms may get pregnant. If intercourse was within 72 hours you consider taking plan b. Ella (ulipristal acetate) is another brand that can be used up to 5 days after unprotected intercourse. Plan b is a high dose of birth control to disrupt the hormonal patterns to delay or prevent ovulation. Abnormal bleeding after is common. Check preg test in 10 days. Read more...

I had unprotected sex a couples days ago. But I took an emergency contraceptive pill the day after now I am wondering when I will have my next period.

Unpredictable. Emergency Contraception is only about 50% effective at preventing pregnancy. Waiting a whole day before taking it makes it even more unlikely to be effective. But, there is no predictable way to tell you when your next period will happen. You may be pregnant. Emergency contraception, when it works, will change or interfere with menstrual cycles for up to two months. Read more...

I took emergency contraceptive pill n started bleeding after a few days n my period is after 20 days. This happened before also. Will this harm me?

Periods/Plan B. Taking emergency contraception is quite likely to throw your periods off for a month - that's exactly how they work. If you had 5 days of bleeding shortly after the pill use, this sounds very normal and means you should not be or become pregnant. GIve it a couple of more weeks until your normal period would have been due and then if you have concern yet, take a home pregnancy test - but unlikely. Read more...
