Smart ophthalmologis. A smart ophthalmologist should be able to guide you toward the cause! Many times there are no specific causes, but your ophthalmologist should be able to help with that!
Observation. Most cataracts are due to aging but some are conditions at birth and a consequence of trauma and some types of medical treatment. The ophthalmologist will look in your eye, sometimes after dilation, and can carefully examine your lens for the presence of cataract formation.
