CML is a marrow malignancy characterized by excessive number of white blood cells with various degrees of maturation.
Most CML patients have deficient number of red cells and platelets. CML responds dramatically to oral agents called tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Examples are Gleevec and Sprycel (dasatinib).
