In brief: Negative feedback

Sensipar (aka cinacalcet) helps the parathyroid gland respond better to calcium in the blood stream. The presence of calcium typically slows down the parathyroid gland as the gland wants to increase calcium levels in the blood.
The gland will produce PTH (parathyroid hormone) to help increase calcium levels. With the drug, the gland isn't as active and PTH levels are lower.

In brief: Lowers calcium

In either primary or secondary causes of hyperparathyroidism.
It is not a "cure" however. See an endocrinologist.
