I've seen patients with genital herpes diagnosed as recurrent UTIs because no exam was done.

Two smart docs! I agree. Also, fragrances in soaps and detergents can be irritating. Use fragranc free products, no fabric softeners. Microscopic trauma can cause increased chance of infection, to don't overscrub and no thongs.
