In brief: PTSD treatment
Post-traumatic stress disorder (ptsd) can be very complex, and may need multiple types of treatment.
A thorough psychiatric evaluation is the best way to start, to understand some of the precipitating events and ongoing triggers. Psychotherapy with emdr (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) can help move through and release painful emotion. Medications are sometimes needed, not always.

I agree with dr. Pappas' excellent advice.
Cognitive processing therapy (a subset of cbt), emdr & virtual reality exposure therapy are excellent forms of tx. Pyschotropic meds may indicated. Group therapy, acupuncture & psychoeducation are valuable.
