Persons with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome & ligament laxity are mostly women with a natural inherited condition which can potentiate several chronic pain syndromes & Fibromyalgia. Most important preventative measures: Avoid obesity & keep muscles strong & toned; so joints are held "form closed" & ligaments are protected.

Peter Beighton and associate British Rheumatologists demonstrated relationship of several functional disorders, including IBS, IBD, & Fibromyalgia, FM, with Hypermobility Syndrome, HS. I believe genetic underpinning of HS explain familial phenomena of FM.

Hypermobility can occur with various rheumatological conditions.
A good evaluation by a rheumatologist will give you your options for treatment.
