In brief: Medical Evaluation

Animal bites can expose people to high amounts of bacteria deep into the skin and tissues of the body putting people at risk for infection.
This can occur quickly and needs to be evaluated by a doctor. Usually prophylactic antibiotics are prescribed as well as a tetanus shot. Depending on the type of animal and known information and history, treatment and testing for rabies may be appropriate.

In brief: Animal bite

aggressive or wild animal bite - Seek Medical Care.
If wound is minor - wash w soap &water, apply antibiotic ointment &cover w bandaid /bandage. Get tetanus shot if you haven’t had one in last 10 years or your don’t know. For more serious wound or possible infection, apply pressure &obtain urgent care. Per mayo clinic, if last tetanus shot was > 5 years ago &wound is “deep or dirty”, a booster
