If I take half of my .5 prescription of Xanax (alprazolam) can it cause a seizure? This would be my first time taking it since I got them.

In brief: Very unlikely

Xanax (alprazolam) does not provoke seizure activity, and if you are taking appropriate anti-epileptic drugs, you should experience NO issues, when you restart your Xanax (alprazolam), other than perhaps more drowsiness if interacts with certain meds.
You have a good strategy to resume.
