Is there anything that can be done so my Mirena (levonorgestrel) won't stop my period? I'm hoping I still get my period here and there for reassurance

No. Light or absent periods is actually one of the benefits of this IUD. The progestin embedded in the IUD keeps the uterine lining from growing, so when it comes time for your period, there is little or nothing to shed. It can be used in women with heavy periods to help. It is highly effective as birth control, so you have minimal risk for pregnancy.
