See your general dentist first to determine cause of the jaw pain.
If it turns out to be TMJ pain, see a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.

In brief: General dentist 1st
It's always good to see your general dentist first to access the source of your jaw pain.
If relieving you of your pain is out side their scope of treatment he/she can refer you to the proper specialist.

In brief: Need more info
Jaw pain can be from an infected tooth or a tooth under trauma from the bite.
If you're jaw hurts in a specific location around the tooth a general practitioner should be able to solve the problem. If the pain is in the corner of the mandible or in the side of the face and head it might be related to malocclusion or bad bite. An orthodontist or a TMJ specialist can help as well as some general.
