If the chin is just sore after hitting it with a dumbell, then i would ice it 20 minutes every hour for the first 2 days.
If you are not allergic, you can also take an anti-inflammatory medicine like advil (ibuprofen) or naproxen. If there is any change in your teeth fitting together, then you should definitely see a dentist or physician.
