In brief: In our idiotic

System of insurance roulette, the critical test is the cystoscopy and biopsy; the most expensive test is the pet scan (discerns stage, and metastasis.
You have a life threatening, function threatening illness, how much it cost is a business and financial question. Too bad insurance is a business trying to reduce their risk at our expense. Good luck to you.

In brief: Bladder cancer

Cystoscopy and biopsy of the bladder mass would be something that you should have to establish a diagnosis of bladder cancer.
Then, a ct scan would need to be done to complete staging work-up-especially if the biopsy shows that there is muscle involvement. Discuss with your md the best approach for you in detail.

You may wish to start with urine examination for blood, which is usually the first sign of bladder cancer. It will require chemical testing or better yet microscopic examination.
