Should I ask my doctor to be tested for anemia and diabetes since I am pregnant?

Testing is routine. All pregnant women are tested for anemia as well as gestational diabetes as a routine by their obstetrical doctor- discuss with oyur doctor regarding these tests.
Yes, routine. It is routine to test for anemia when you start prenatal care, and to test for both anemia and diabetes around 26 weeks (6-7 months). If you have any risk factors (over 35, overweight, family history, previous large baby, hispanic or native american heritage), your doctor may also test for diabetes when you start prenatal care. Congratulations & good luck!
