In brief: Sev. possible causes

There are a number of problems in and around the eye which can cause pain with eye movements.
Sinus disease, optic neuritis, thyroid disease (usually overactive thyroid), inflammation of the muscles or tendons which move the eye in different directions, and other causes are all possible. If the pain persists more than a few days, see an eye md for diagnosis and recommendations.
