Thyroid Eye Disease. The top of the list would be thyroid eye disease causing prominence of the eyes and possibly affecting the eye muscles. Any mass behind an eye may cause unilateral prominence compared to the other side. There are many other syndromes also. Ophthalmology evaluation is indicated.
