Mineralcorticoid. Your adrenal glands make a class of hormone called mineralcorticoid. It helps maintain blood pressure. If your adrenals can't produce it for whatever reason, Florinef (fludrocortisone) is a pill substitute for those hormones.
No & yes. Hi. No, they're chemically not the same, but fludrocortisone is an aldosterone agonist with specificity for the aldosterone receptor that has better stability and activity profiles than aldosterone. So functionally, they're kinda the same.
FLUDROCORTISONE. No Flu is related chemically to aldo but not the same. It is used as aldo in those who do not make enough due to disease of the adrenals or having had both adrenals taken out. It can cause high BP and low K if taken in excess. I specialize in aldo problems and run a Yahoo group for pts with hyperaldosteronism. Happy to help if you need more info.
For an aldosterone deficiency doctors will prescribe fludrocortisone acetate; is it the same as aldosterone?
No. Hi. No, fludrocortisone is not chemically identical to aldosterone (although many similarities), but it selectively activates the mineralocorticoid (aldosterone) receptor, so serves the purpose of aldosterone.
HTN, low K. Hi. Florinef (fludrocortisone) dosed right should not have side effects. But it can cause high blood pressure and low blood potassium (K) if over done. Good luck!
Dx'd with neurocardiogenic syncope! Is florinef (fludrocortisone) a safe long term drug? Should. I see an electro physiologist?
Florinef (fludrocortisone) Can be an effective long term treatment. ..See how it works...If ineffective an ep might be useful.
I put a florinef (fludrocortisone) tablet on my tongue it melted then I spat it out. Will anyone of been absorbed? So terrified of anaphylaxis to new drugs.
The amount. Absorbed depends on the amount dissolved. But I wouldn't worry too much. Is there a reason you worry about anaphylaxis? Have you ever experienced? If you have then to what? Do you carry an epipen (epinephrine)?
Had mild rash in past from penicillin after few days. Terrified of drug anaphylaxis from florinef (fludrocortisone) for my bp. Never had anaphylaxis. So hard!
No interaction. I have had anaphylaxis to penicillin so I can't take anything with b-lactam. Florinef (fludrocortisone) has no relation to penicillin. Discuss it with your doctor, get the list of those that interact with penicillin and have peace of mind.
No relationship. The rash from penicillin lis likely mediated by another immune mechanism than ige-mediated anaphylaxis and thus even then the risk for anaphylaxis is small. Florinef (fludrocortisone) is totally different from penicillin so don't lose sleep over it. I presume you are taking Florinef (fludrocortisone) for low blood pressure.
Depends. If the balance issue is due to low blood pressure and no other causes were found about why the blood pressure is low, then you could try it to see if it improves. I would search for the cause of the "unbalance" first before trying fludrocortisone.
Masking a UTI? Florinef (fludrocortisone) will not mask the symptoms of a UTI and has no effect on its occurrence. For more information on Florinef (fludrocortisone) go to this link: http://www. Mayoclinic. Com/health/drug-information/dr600669/dsection=proper-use good luck.
