Acupuncture, hypnosis, etc can be very effective SHORT-TERM ... however, their effects, when used in isolation, wears off and most are back smoking by month 3 UNLESS they persevere with a "complete program" where you fully realize your own personal smoking triggers and learn to deal with them long term.

In brief: Not best but try all
If you thinking about quitting and looking for help, good news.
Your motivation will get you there. The best treatments - shown by research - are coaching combined with treatment for withdrawal (nicotine meds, other meds). But some people quit on their own, some with acupuncture. Goal: get through the day, then a week, repeat. http://smokefree.gov/explore-quit-methods-no-js#most-effective

Using auricular (ear) acupuncture for smoking cessation is remarkably effective.
Small gold asp (acupuncture semipermanent) needles are placed in the ear where they remain for one to 7 days. Appying small plasters keeps them in longer. My patients report no cravings while the needles are in place.
