Can I pass the oral hsv1 virus to my child during birth. Will they automatically get it if antibodies are in my blood?

In brief: From where

HSV 1 is not limited to oral lesions.
It is also present in genital herpes and if you are shedding HSV1 from genital herpes it can pass to baby. This usually only occurs with a 1st genital herpes outbreak around the time of delivery. If you just have cold sores, this germ does not enter the blood and travel to baby.Baby would gain some transient herpes antibodies during pregnancy.
