What is a HEPA hood? It was suggested put one over my head for allergies, but i dont know what that is.

This is called the laminar flow unit which is often used when handling sterile products and is not practical for most people due to noise, airflow, etc.
If you have dust mite allergy, reducing the indoor humidity to 35-50% will be far more effective than any HEPA. If you have a mold allergy, attack the source of water. HEPA is usually a poor investment since it rarely makes much of a difference
