Drowsiness is the most common side effect.
Depending on dose, incoordination, confusion, rash, dizziness, constipation and fatigue may occur. There are rare, more serious side effects too. It's usually used for acute alcohol withdrawal and has a long and successful track record for preventing the serious side effects of that condition. Like all meds, it should be used in the lowest effective dose.
