Biliary colic. Intermittent acute biliary colic which is usually a steady gripping or gnawing pain in the right upper abdomen near the ribcage or some under sternum with radiation to the upper back lasting one to several hours. Usually occurs hours after eating or awakens at night. May have nausea and vomiting. Not relieved by passing gas, change in position, pain killers OTC. Fatty, large meals may trigger.
