Had an endoscopy. I am on Nexium (esomeprazole) for years. The GI said I had a polyp in my stomach & is normal for people on PPI's and not to worry. Is that normal?

Fundic gland polyps. perhaps not *normal* but common, yes - up to 10% of people on long-term PPI develop fundic gland polyps. we have no data so far to say that it predisposes people to cancer - OTOH, we don't have long enough data to 100% say there is no association at all either. *if* there is an increased cancer risk it will probably turn out to be minute and more likely in pts with genetic predisposition.
