My sight went from 20/20 to much worse after up eyelid surgery, and lids are lumpy. Will good sight return? Are cataracts inevitable/ how to prevent?

In brief: Talk to your surgeon
Your vision should not change with upper eyelid surgery.
Some lumpiness immediately after surgery is normal, and should resolve with time, but any vision changes should be discussed with the surgeon asap. If your are using eye lubricants after surgery however, they can cause blurry vision. Cataracts are a separate problem entirely, discuss with your eye md.

In brief: Sight not changed
Having eyelid surgery should not alter your visual capabilties at all, as the procedure is a soft tissue surgery, no a globe or intraorbital surgery.
Lumpiness will gradually resolve, takes time. Cataracts are dependent on your heredity and exposure to sun radiation over time. Protect with polarized sun lenses when outside. Have annual eye exams to evaluate.

In brief: Astigmatism changes
The weight of the excess skin can produce some changes in the astigmatism of the eye.
After blepharoplasty, numerous times , I have seen changes in astigmatism therefore change in clarity of vision. Some is due to the pressure of the scar process ( this resolves with time) and some is due to the weight lifted from the eye and is permanant. Check with your eye doctor for change in your glasses.
