In brief: The very first one

Most medical guidelines recommend penicillin as the first line agent to treat strep throat.
However, i feel that Amoxicillin ( a derivative of penicillin) is more often prescribed simply because it is more tolerable/less side effects. This is debatable. It is important to treat strep pharyngitis as it can cause an array of medical problems down the line in the form of rhematic fever.
