In brief: Mesothelioma

Anything that irritates pleura, the outside lining of the lung, or the lung can give you cough.
Cough is one of the symptoms in mesothelioma in the pleura- however it is not specific only for mesothelioma. Most common symptoms would be non pleuritic chest pain and shortness of breath. Cough is less likely/ unlikely to happen in peritoneal mesothelioma, .

In brief: Meso is an

Aggressive malignancy of the tissues (pleura) that lines the lungs and chest cavity.
It produces fluid that crowds the lung leading to short breath, fatigue; cough. It can invade the chest wall causing pain on deep breaths, or with cough or sneeze. The most aggressive type is sarcomatus, and subtypes of mixed and epithelial may have different prognoses. Not all cough; most do.
