My mom is worried she has stomach cancer. How can she know for sure?

She can see. a gastroenterologist for evaluation. If indicated, an endoscopy will be able to detect gastric carcinoma.
Do scope. if she have symptoms she should have an upper endoscopy with biopsy of abnormal tissue.

Some stomach cancers need surgery. The size & stage of the cancer affects treatment options, as does overall health or other medical problems of the patient. Mom has stomach cancer that spread to the pancreas. Surgery on stomach done, pancreas was left untouched (for medical reasons). Possibilities of cure?

Whemn stomach lesions spread to the nodes mosntly along the lesser curvature, they can then transfer to adjacent retroperitoneal nodes, those behind the stomach in the lesser sac where the pancreas is found. Need more details. Cancer of the stomach is curable in its very early stages when it is still ,localized to the stomach wall.Once it escapes and spreads to the surroundings, cure become less likely. Yet I would hold judgment unless youc an tell me where exactly is her residual cancer(?lymph nodes or invading into the pancreas?) Has she been offered or started on chemotherapy? Not really. Growing up in the western world is associated in with an increased risk of colon cancer. Stomach cancer is less common and is seen more frequently in asia and 3rd world countries, perhaps due to h.Pylori and genetics.
