How is an endoscopy ultrasound (of the pancreas) any different, if at all, than a standard screening endoscopy of the stomach area? Same machine?

In brief: Different

Endoscopy looks at lining of organs-esophagus, stomach, duodenum, no view of pamcreas.
EUS does internal sono sound wave picture of pancreas- no xrays. Regular sono does not get good look at pancreas

In brief: Very similar

The difference is that EUS-ultrasound endoscopy- has at the end of it an US probe which can visualize organs beyond the surface.
Otherwise the machines are very similar. I hope this help.
