If you don't have a fever does that mean it's not strep throat?

In brief: Not necessarily

Although fever is common with strep throat, it is not proof that you don't have it.
If the sore throat is fairly painful, and especially if you don't feel well otherwise--headache, aches and pains etc.--it is still possible. Strep doesn't usually come with a lot of cold symptoms like runny nose and congested cough. Only way to be sure is to get checked, possibly with a test for strep.

In brief: No

Many people do not get high fevers with strep throat.
Get a strep test or culture, it is still a dangerous disease that can cause future problems.
