Salt causes water retention, why is syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone treated with salt tablets?

SIADH and salt? The syndrome of inappropriate antiduretic hormone (SIADH) is not treated with salt tablets. The choice of therapy is dependent on the severity of the symptoms. Agents used to treat SIADH are either 3% or .9% saline infusions, fluid restriction, loop diuretics, vaptan and demeclocycline. The basic problem of SIADH is fluid accumulation in the body causing a low sodium. Salt tablets don't work.
