Along with ideas suggested: slippery elm lozenges can help, such as thayer's -- or also this can be combined with elderberry ; zinc in other preparations.
It can be found in throat comfort tea. Licorice lozenges also -- licorice (dgl if hypertension is a worry) is soothing to mucus membranes. Sage throat spray can be helpful too.

If you have a significantly sore throat with swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see your medical provider & get a streph throat test.
Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day. You can gargle with aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mixture of chamomile tea with honey & a small amount of lemon juice is good.
