Is taking 5000 mcg of B12 daily safe and how much will this raise my serum B12 by?

In brief: Yes it is safe

But my question is why you are taking these doses.
Raising the serum level does not really matter at all. It is the intracellular level that matters and we cannot measure that. It is your overall health that decides the issue.

Yes it s safe. It is a water soluble vitamin, even if the blood level raises above the normal it is harm less. The chances of having B 12 deficiency related problems are lower when the level is normal It is not really possible to relate the dose and the effect on the serum level as the absorption might vary from person to person
