Why are the pituitary, thyroid, and gonads the most susceptible glands to radiation? Is it because they can have radioactive cofactors? What are they?

In brief: Not true.

Any organ can be damaged by radiation, but tolerance differs in the dose that can be tolerated.
Organs with rapid growth rate are often more sensitive as radiation damages DNA. Thyroid cancer is relatively common, becomes more likely after low dose radiation that damages but doesn't kill cells. The gonads have rapidly dividing cells that radiation kills, causing sterility.
