How does a migraine cause you to have blurry vision?

In brief: Classical migraine

In many cases of complex migraine, visual loss or blurring of vision due to sparkling lights can precede the headache pain due to effects on the occipital lobe.
Cluster headaches can result in changes in the pupil and even drooping of the eyelid. Tearing of the eye can obscure vision also. All of this is secondary to neurochemical changes triggered by glutamate excitatory sensitivity.
