Pain behind ear, ear infection and lymph nodes little swollen?

Mastoiditis. Pain behind the ear associated with ear infections can be due to an inflamed lymph node. A more concerning scenario is mastoiditis, an infection of a bony part of the skull. This is usually accompanied by fever, tenderness and displacement of the pinna (pushed forward) and requires immediate medical intervention.
