Is there any negative effects (side effects) by using tea tree oil on the face/pimples?

Not particularly. Besides irritation at the site of use, you are unlikely to have many issues with tea tree oil used topically.

I put tea tree oil on a pimple on my face and the next morning I woke up with a 10p sized red ring burn, what shall I put on it?

Tea tree oil. Tea tree oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties but undiluted tea tree oil may burn your skin. Tea tree oil should always be diluted with another oil (such as grapeseed) prior to application and should never be taken internally. Never ending pimples. Tried everything from pills to benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, tea tree oil. Wash face twice a day w/ moisturizer. Plz help!

See a dermatologist. If you have been consistent with topical acne preparations which include a benzoyl perioxide produce and a retinol such as Retin A, (tretinoin) Differin, or Tazorac along with oral antibiotics and are not seeing progress, I recommend that you consult a dermatologist. Accutane may be offered as an option, but your doctor is better able to recommend what's best for you. Good luck. Read more...

Do you think I should apply tea tree oil all over my face or just on acne scars?

Myth but use if help. Many of my patients swear by the benefits of tea tree or bio-oil and so i generally don't dissuade them but there is very little science to support its use. It is probably the massage, (which we know helps scars) that is used to apply the oil, which is actually providing the improvements observed. Massage with any clean oil 3-4 times a day. Silicon gel trips are morel likely to improve the scar. Read more...

My acne seems to be getting worse when I use very strong medication for the pimples. I tried using tea tree oil but it just made it worse. I need help.

OK. Have a talk with your doc about what acne is. By putting an oil on yr skin you are just blocking the oil glands on yr skin so I would expect it to indeed get worse. There are OTC preps with benzoyl peroxide (5% or 10%) which can help a lot. There are other meds by scrip. Good web sites are www.mayoclinic.com and www.johnshopkins.com. Read more...
