While I'm taking Sovaldi 400mg and Moderiba (Ribavirin, USP) 600mg/600mg for hep c genotype 3!! Would smoking cigaretts interfere with my treatment???

It might. Sovaldi is affected by a number of drugs which induce the enzymes that metabolize it, and tobacco smoke does cause enzyme induction of similar enzymes in the liver. Is marijuana harmful if you have hep c and b and cirrhosis?

Won't get transplant. I'm not saying it makes sense, but in some jurisdictions, you can be taken off the list for liver transplantation solely because you use -- or even have used -- marijuana. I am not making this up. This is "politics as usual." and this is in contrast to how having ruined your liver doing alcohol in the first place and being very likely to revert -- you can still get your transplant. My grandmother is in ESLD she had hep c she took solvadi and ribavirin and since after that she has developed low sodium levels. Her ammonia levels are really good her bilirubin is stays between 4-- 8, Would you say she is gonna be ok? -

Hard to know. Hepatitis C is a complex disease, and every individual responds to the virus, and treatment differently. Ask the GI liver specialist you are seeing what the prognosis is, and the likelihood of needing a liver transplant. Just remember, those answers are statistics, and your grandmother is not a statistic, but an individual. They are not predictive. Hope this helps! Read more...
