How are emergency room and general practice doctors qualified in prescribing drugs for complicated health conditions?

Dr. Deepti Saxena

In brief: ER/general doctor
Both are well qualified to prescribe drugs for complicated health conditions as they have gone through similar training program. It's the experience which makes the difference.

The big difference is that an ER will be prescribing drugs only for the short term since they are caring for an acute medical problem and will not being any continuing care. The GP follows the patient for the long term which is an entirely different situation.
