Sometimes I can't comprehend what people say, I can hear alright and there can be no distractions, but it all sounds like a foreign language?

In brief: Hearing loss

You may have SNHL of certain frequencies and this is effecting your comprehension.
You should have an audiogram done to evaluate type or extent of any hearing loss. If audiogram is normal, may need referral to neurology. There may also be an issue with ADD with regards to distractions interfering with comprehension. Discuss your concerns with your primary care physician for proper eval and referal

In brief: One consideration

would be left temporal lobe epilepsy.
The only manifestation might be sudden loss of ability to process spoken language, With left TLE the" posterior aphasia" can last up to 5 -6 minutes. Another condition would be TIA with restricted blood flow to the left temporal lobe. A third condition would be acephalgic migraine. Problems with sound conduction and acoustic nerve function are longstanding
