Can acyclovir be grounded up into powder, and placed on a serious herpes outbreak to increase healing?

In brief: Yes and NO !!!
It can be done, but for several facts.
It is already available as a topical ointment, but does not speed healing. The only thing proven has been that it decreases virus shedding from the ulcers, potentially decreasing transmission by direct contact. On the negative side, topical application is said to increase both the rate of formation of allergic reactions, and virus resistance.
