One of the many risks of the oral contraceptive pill is thrombosis(clots) which can travel to distant places like the lungs and cause "issues".
Smoking on the pill is a major no-no as it can make the blood vessels produce spasms and enhance the likelihood of clots.That is why we as md's use low dose estrogen combination pills and insist on no smoking to decrease that side effect.
