I'm 39 & have unexplained, painful bouts of swelling in my joints. Usually it will be 1 hand or 1 knee/foot-never both. What could this be?

U may have an inflammatory arthropathy.
I would suggest u visit your primary care physician and get some bloodwork done. In the meantime take an anti inflammatory drug(aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen).
