How can I minimise symptoms of eczema?

Moisturize. The primary treatment for eczema is to moisturize the skin. You can't moisturize too much. We often recommend cetaphil or eucerine but any good moisturizer is okay. You can also decrease bathing as this adds to decreasing the moisture of your skin so when you bathe use a cap of baby oil in the water and lotion up after. Use your steroid creams as directed.
Protect. Avoid things that make you break out, soaps & wetness. Wash your hands only when necessary. Wear gloves when needed. Wear clothes made of cotton. Bathe only with a small amount of mild unscented soap, such as dove. Keep the water temperature cool or warm, not hot. Use the medicine your doctor gave you. Use a plain moisturizer daily. Avoid scratching or rubbing the itchy area. Manage stress.
